Habit #1

Ok. As I wrote earlier, there are all kinds of habits I would like to embrace, so I just picked one that I thought would have impact on several areas in my life. Declutter for five minutes each day I have been doing it for a week now and so far so good. In no [...]

Book Giveaway

I dropped off two boxes of books yesterday at the used bookstore Blue Plate Books.  I have been meaning for years to stop by this store and finally made it, and I can’t believe what a gem I have been missing–super nice owner, clean, well organized store. With the exception of buying books for the kids, [...]

Toys Galore!

The toys in the house had taken over and were just a mess. Parts to toys were spread all over in different rooms of the house, and it was all overwhelming for me and the boys. Over the last few days I tackled the issue, and it was much larger of a project than I [...]

Consignment

This weekend was my first foray into the world of consignment.  Overall, I had a very positive experience. I had two tubs of baby toys, the baby crib set, and some infant clothes (with the tags still on!) that I wanted to get rid of. I was poking around Craig’s List to see if that [...]

15 Minutes to Peace

I’ve been unhappy with the dirtiness/messiness of the house lately, yet not wanting to spend hours on housekeeping–usually on the weekends, so I decided to take a different approach. I made a chart with the 7 days of the week.  I assigned a room to each day, and I spend 15 minutes on one room [...]

Pre-Party Stress

We are having a family gathering for E’s birthday on Sunday, and I can already feel the pre-party stress settle in.  I look around at all the things that need to be done around the house and just shake my head.  And that’s just the regular housekeeping stuff and none of the extra party tasks. [...]

Bunny 911

See this cute, little bunny? It had fallen down into one of our basement window wells and could not get out.  Thank goodness Evan saw it. My mom climbed down there, scooped him/her out, and sent the little one on its way.

Natural Products

In an effort to have less chemicals in the house and be more environmentally friendly, I’ve been switching to more natural-based products, as I finish items that we currently use. So far, this is what we have started using: BioKleen’s Soy Cream Cleaner 7th generation dishwasher gel Tom’s of Maine toothpaste 7th generation laundry detergent Mrs. [...]

Magazine and Book Rack

Pottery Barn Catalina Magazine Rack $95.00 W’s Custom Carpentry $10.00 What an awesome husband I have.  I just gave him the PB picture, and he made almost exactly the same item for next to nothing.  This will be great for housing all of the books E likes to keep in his bed.

Bye Bye Baby Gear

I packed up the nursing equipment/supplies, food mill, and small baby bibs tonight to give back to D. End of one chapter. Really not too sad about it.  The bins of baby clothes will be harder to part with.  They’re all just so darn cute.   It’s stupid though to have them taking up space [...]
