Dear little blog,

Please don’t worry; I have not forgotten you. Forgive me, for sick babies and much overtime have wreaked havoc on an already fragile schedule. Some day I will be back in full force…if nothing else to post pictures of the glorious daffodils popping their heads out of the ground.

I cannot remember a time when I was so happy for the spring to come.

It may not look like it, but I seriously edited the blogs to which I subscribe.

The goal: spend less time looking at what other people are doing and more time on the things I need to do to move myself forward.

It is seriously snowy and windy here today. I don’t ever remember this much snow in this area.

Blogs, Blogs Everywhere

Often, I find myself spending more time reading blogs than actually writing on mine or doing some other productive task. It’s nice to see what other people are doing/thinking, but I think I will trim down the blog roll a bit.

On a totally different note, today is my birthday. Long day at work with a lot of meetings and teaching a training class. I came home to a wonderful surprise though. I didn’t think W and the boys would have done anything since we have plans for a family celebration this weekend. When I got home though, they surprised me with a special cake that they had made and decorated as well as a bunch of flowers.

Perfect, perfect. Heart felt. The simple act of going to the store and making the cake meant more to me than any purchased gift. Sometimes when W and I have differences in opinion, I wonder what we are doing together. When you have an evening like tonight, there is no question.

I just had a lightning strikes moment. I think I just found my new domain name. I have been trying to think of something more creative than Jennifer’s Journal for this blog, and I think Cereal For Supper would be perfect. It just whacked me in the head when I typed in the title of this post (we did have cereal for supper tonight).

Catchy, short, easy to say and to remember. Captures the idea of my blog of personal improvement and living intentionally without going overboard–sometimes cereal for supper is just the way things go down. And that’s OK.

I have been writing on this blog for over a year now.

That seems incredibly hard to believe. I started in May of 2008. I enjoy it more than I ever thought I would.

I love that it helps me document activities and projects.
I love that it gives me a place to get out some of the thoughts that rattle around in my brain.
I love the sense of accomplishment that it provides.

If there is anybody out there reading this, thank you for being a part of something I love.

Starting Out

There are thousands and thousands of blogs, so why should I add another to the mix. The short answer is, Why not? As an adult, I kept a detailed journal during two important times in my life–while I backpacked around Europe and while I was pregnant. I have a mediocre memory and a terrible sense of direction (I wonder if the two are related), so this blog is my attempt to capture some of the events, thoughts, and projects in my life. If someone finds some of the information helpful/interesting, that’s an added bonus.

I have a lot of interests and expect the topics of the blog to vary quite a bit. Crafts. Sewing. Recipes. P90X. Web 2.0. Archives. Motherhood. Gardening. Travel.

Here we go…..
