We did it! We kept the shower a secret despite a last minute change in my sister’s plans, and everyone had a good time.
Here is the diaper cake I made. It was easier to do than I thought. I couldn’t find white diapers, so after rolling the diapers and securing them with rubber bands, I covered each layer in tissue paper, taping the paper on the bottom. To finish the “cake” off, I wrapped ribbon around each layer and added a floral bouquet on top. It fit perfectly on my glass cake stand.

I usually test recipes before I serve them, but I didn’t have time to do that with everything this time. I used Martha Stewart’s meringue butter cream recipe for the cupcake frosting. It was delicious. How can you go wrong with anything that has 8 sticks of butter in it!

The color of this photo isn’t quite right, but I like the composition. If you want to see some truly beautiful cupcakes that are really more art than food, check out Flickr.
Just in case you are wondering, the boxes are Martha Stewart (of course)–Cosmos Garden Favor Boxes, to be exact–purchased at Michaels.
Here is some more information about the menu, and some of the decorations can be seen below:
All of the items used for decorations were gifts for the baby–receiving blankets, silky, booties, etc.
